A sushi train eatery in the heart of Chatswood, this is the client’s second outlet of the same name. The design explores various Japanese references and re-interprets them within the context of a contemporary eatery. Seating 60 around a stainless steel conveyor, diners get to observe the theatrics associated with the preparation and presentation of the food. The forms that envelope the interior space peel apart to reveal recesses that house the cashier’s desk and waiters stations. The floating ceiling rises at the front and features bespoke lighting pendants, adding a lightness and spaciousness to the interior.
The project was shortlisted in the 2005 Interior Design Australia Awards (IDAA).
